landscape-1452529244-503674372Khloé Kardashian had a rough 2015: Her ex Lamar Odom overdosed at a brothel and as the year came to a close, her brother, Rob, was hospitalized for diabetes. But that hasn’t derailed the 31-year-old from her professional ambitions. Instead of putting a stop on her career, Khloé says she’s focused her energy into her upcoming pseudo talk-show, Kocktails With Khloe, debuting Jan. 20 at 10 p.m. on FYI.

The eight-episode series is intended to mimic a typical booze-soaked dinner party at her house, right down to the set, modeled after her home and featuring a working kitchen, dining area, and den. Each one-hour episode will see Khloé entertaining guests as 22 hidden cameras capture an evening filled with games, gossip, and grub provided by an on-site chef.

“I’m not a traditional talk show host — I don’t want to be interviewing [people] on some couch. I don’t think that’s authentic,” Khloé told last Friday, the day after her first run-through and also the afternoon her brother-in-law, Kanye West, released one new song plus a snippet of another.

With casting already underway for her next TV show, Revenge Body, and shooting for the 12th season of KUWTK beginning this month, Khloé discusses how she’s prepping for Kocktails, Kanye’s upcoming album Swish, and how Rob’s doing after his sudden health scare. She also reveals an unlikely celebrity booking request.

How was the test run?
It was really good. But thank god we did a test run. You want to go through your kinks. But I thought it was super great. My mom got a little too drunk.

That’s kind of the point though, right?
That is the point. But I was like, “I’m going to kill you, Mom.” But it’s OK. It’s my mom.

You haven’t released a lineup of guests. How are you going about picking them?
If you were to have a dinner party at home, you invite people who you know will mesh well together. Or [people who will] at least bring something to the conversation. You never want polar-opposite guests, or else you’ll have a weird dinner party. Nothing is set in stone right now, but we have a bulletin board of clusters of guests and we’re seeing who will go best [together]. The closer we get, the more celebrities are reaching out to us that want to be on it, so that’s really cool.

Like who?
Well, nothing is booked, but Wiz Khalifa wanted to get on it. It’s fun to hear that anybody wants to be on the show. I’m trying to think who else … Comedians. There are people of all walks of life. Musicians, actors, TV actors. I have a few reality people who are going to hopefully come on. Everyone on the show will be of name or face, but maybe it’s not someone you will know. It’s not like everyone is … I don’t want to say A-list, but everyone might not be in the top-grossing movie at the moment.

What about someone like Kanye?
He’s potential. I want him and Kim to come on together, and that’s all depending on how Kim is feeling. It’d be closer to the end of the show, if so. She just had a baby.

Did you hear the new Kanye songs that came out today?
I did not today, but I’ve heard his whole album. His studio is at his house, so we go to his house all the time. I’ve heard the songs, I just don’t know which ones came out.

It was “Real Friends”—
OK, I’ve heard “Real Friends.”

And a snippet of “No More Parties in L.A.”
His album is so good. So I’m confused, is this not an album? We’re just giving away music?

I think he’s starting up G.O.O.D. Fridays again. [Editor’s note: Kanye later tweeted a release date for Swish: Feb. 11.]
He has so many songs that we — I act like I’m recording them — that he can’t figure out what he wants to put on his album. And they’re all genuinely terrific songs. So maybe that’s why he’s doing that.

You’re one of the lucky few who’s heard it.
I know, it’s really cool. And he really cares about our opinions, which I find even cooler. Because we’re not artists, obviously, but he respects what we say so much. He is so passionate. He’s like, every bit the meaning of an artist. He’s so into his craft, and just to see him at work and see how much he respects our opinions, all of us sisters, he wants us all in the studio at different times. Thank god we all live a block away from each other.

A+E Networks 2016 Television Critics Association Press Tour3It isn’t surprising who Khloé Kardashian turned to for advice regarding her new take on the talk show, Kocktails with Khloe (FYI, Jan. 20). Her mother: Kris Jenner.

“My mom is definitely (somebody) I learn so many things from in this business,” said the Keeping Up with the Kardashians star, whose mother briefly had her own talk show. One lesson: “It’s important to be authentic and stay true to yourself.”

During a panel before writers at the Television Critics Association winter press tour Wednesday, Kardashian was asked about matters besides the new show, of course.

• As the session opened, she was asked the health of Lamar Odom, who has been hospitalized since being found unconscious in a Nevada brothel in October.

“Lamar is good, thank you,” Kardashian said, before quickly moving on to another question. When asked again about the recovery of Odom, who she was in the process of divorcing when he was hospitalized, she offered a longer response, but not too much detail, “because it’s not my story to tell. He’s doing amazing and I’m so proud of the strength he has shown to fight this battle.” She added she was “grateful for everybody’s love.”

• She said she is looking forward to FX’s upcoming American Crime Story, which focuses on O.J. Simpson’s mid-1990s trial for the murders of ex-wife Nicole Brown Simpson and Ronald Goldman. Kris Jenner, who knew the Simpsons and had been married to O.J. “dream team” lawyer Robert Kardashian,, is played by Selma Blair and Khloé, Kim and Kourtney are depicted as children and adolescents.

“I would definitely like to see it,” she said. “My mom and Selma Blair became really good friends.”

The eight-episode Kocktails, which will mix talk, cooking and party games, will feature Kardashian and famous friends gathering on a studio set made to look like a home setting. No guests were announced Wednesday, but Kardashian said family members and friends will pop up on the show, just not all in one group.

Fueled by food and alcohol, Kocktails guests will talk about their lives, pop culture, fashion and celebrity gossip (wonder who that could include?), according to the show’s description. The show will be filmed within a day of broadcast so that current events can be discussed.

Hidden cameras should help guests forget they are being taped, leading to more revealing comments, Kardashian said. She includes herself in that observation.

“I hope my Khloé-comes-to-Jesus moments come across. You do forget the camera is there,” she said, adding she hopes people “let their hair down.”

Asked about celebrity and privacy, Kardashian said,

“There’s definitely a double-edged sword. When things are great … you want to scream that from the rooftops,” she said. Some personal matters, such as Odom’s situation, she would prefer to “keep protected or close to my heart” and hopes people respect “why I am being so private.”

Khloe Kardashian is giving us a beauty breakdown!

The blond beauty flaunts her gorgeous curves and killer looks on the cover of New Beauty magazine’s Winter-Spring 2016 issue (on sale January 5), exclusively obtained by E! News. And along with a variety of shots of the E! star rocking a number of form-fitting dresses that accentuated her enviable bod, Khloe shares tips on how she lost weight, her beauty inspiration, her biggest insecurities and more.

The Strong Looks Better Naked author has openly expressed her love for the gym, but as we all know, what you put into your body matters even more than how you burn it off. And Khloe explains that her decision to cut dairy from her diet proved to be very beneficial for her.
On stands on January. 5

Here’s what Khloé had to share:

CWxHrk_WwAEr9M7About her diet:

“I’m obsessed with cheese and milk, but eliminating them from my diet made the biggest difference,” she told the mag. “In a month and a half, I lost 11 pounds just from not eating dairy, without doing anything else different, and that totally blew my mind.”

About her hair:

“The funny thing is that everyone thinks I’m naturally dark because all of my siblings are, but I’m naturally dirty blond. Tracey Cunningham does my color, and little by little my ombré turned into more of a rooted blond, and then it got lighter and lighter. I love how I stand out more as a blond—it makes me feel bright and healthy,”

About her own insecurities

: “I have moles and freckles and they irritate me. They are an insecurity of mine, and I wish I could have clear, beautiful skin,” she says. ” I’ve had people say that I have breakouts on my back when it’s really my moles. Those are things I don’t know how to fix.”

On Kylie’s makeup

“I look to my sisters for a lot of inspiration. I also look to Kylie Jenner because I love how she does her makeup—because of her I’m into drawing around my lips”

About plastic surgery:

“People say I’ve had my butt done or I’ve had liposuction. When I hear that I have fake body parts it frustrates me, but I also take it as a compliment. I bust my ass every day, so I get annoyed when people say I’ve had liposuction and my hard work gets discredited. Yet
on the other hand, I take it as
a compliment because it’s like
I look that good that my butt looks fake

About botox:

I haven’t done Botox or anything like that yet, but I have no problem doing it. If I need filler, and when I do, because one day I will, I’m going to get it. But until then, I’ll do whatever I can to prevent wrinkles and aging.”

One beauty treatment she perks up about is lasers:

“I love lasers and I do a ton of them on my face; I don’t think there’s anything wrong with that. I do them more for discoloration, but they do tighten, too. I’ve also done CoolSculpting and treatments for the stretch marks on my butt. I’m a huge fan of lasers and I love them.”
